A famous politician once said, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”. Here are some tips to help your child study with a plan to ace their exams!

1. Identifying Recurring Questions: Certain types of questions tend to appear in exams frequently. Students should identify and practise these questions in the Ten-Year-Series and past exam papers to secure marks in the exam.

2. List Key Formulas & Concepts: One commonly overlooked study method is to list out important formulas and summarise important concepts for each topic. This helps to speed up revision and transfer key information to long-term memory.

3. Improve Memorisation: Utilise memory techniques such as visual aids and mnemonics to commit mathematical formulas and science concepts to long-term memory.

4. Avoid Overstudying: This may seem counterintuitive but overstudying can cause stress and reduce one’s ability to retain information. This results in a decrease in interest and confidence in the subject. Set realistic goals to prevent being overwhelmed by the workload.

5. Support & Encouragement: Students tend to give up on a subject if they feel they can’t excel. To instil the belief that they can perform academically, it is important for students to be surrounded by supportive teachers and parents in their learning journey.
